During the November 1st meeting of DignityCleveland motion was brought forward to delete the last two paragraphs of the resolution as to make the resolution less controversial and more acceptaule to Bishop Pilla who had pressed Dignity declare their support or dissent of the resolution. After much debate the motion was defeated by secret ballot of 20 to 21 with 3 abstentions. A motion to support the resolution was then passed quickly by a vote of 46 to 2 with four abstentions. Dignity Cleveland has approximately 80 members, about 50 of who were in attendance at this meeting. Many Dignity members from Cleveland as well as from around the country presented opposing views through out the 3 hour discussion. One Dignity member said, "We need to be honest about what we are. They are taking us down one at a time so no one notices... this isn't just about Dignity-Cleveland, it is about everyone", referring to the many Dignity chapters that have lost the right to meet on church property.
